Members of the South Carolina Upstate Mycological Society meet monthly, except for January, on the first Monday of the month or as the schedule allows.
Check below for specific dates, locations, and speaker information.
Meetings start at 6:30pm, arrive any time after 6:00pm.
The format of the meetings is intended to be casual and social. We typically have a speaker who gives a presentation on a mycological topic of their choice, and also discuss recent fungal finds, arrange the upcoming foray, work on identifying specimens, etc.
All levels of knowledge are welcome!
Meeting place: See individual event for location, it changes based on availability.

Morels a-Poppin’! A Roundup of Landfish News and Lore
Presented by Bruch Reed
Chief Operating Officer
North American Mycological Association (NAMA)
Bruch Reed is proud to serve as NAMA Chief Operating Officer, Editor in Chief for the Mycophile Quarterly and current Acting Editor of McIlvainea. Following a youth in which his family taught him mushroom basics, he became very fortunate in developing friendships with several of our time’s mycological leading lights, including Dr. Patrick Leacock, who brought him into the Illinois Mycological Association in 2007 and through whom he met the late, great Gary Lincoff and Dr. Britt A. Bunyard, among others, who warmly and generously invited him into the magical world of far-flung forays. He serves on the board of Wisconsin Mycological Society and teaches Wild Mushroom Certification for the State of Wisconsin. He is also a member of the editorial staff of FUNGI Magazine. Besides studying fungi, he is a secret plant nerd who grows a few hundred orchids in his Chicago apartment, and acts.
